James Pearson
James is an owner, director, and history teacher at Creative Minds. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Miami University
with a minor in Spanish. He attended the University of Oregon as a Graduate Teaching Fellow and received his MFA in Creative Writing.
In his non-existent free time, he enjoys reading, woodworking, gardening, and baseball.

Melanie Pearson
Melanie is an owner and director of Creative Minds. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Radford
University. She is an artist and was formerly the art teacher at Creative Minds. She and James have three children which keeps their
house very loud and busy.

Casey Albritten
Casey is our language arts teacher, staff advisor to the Chess Club, and oversees the creation of our yearbook. He earned his Bachelor of
Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Science in Language Education from Indiana University. When the chance presents itself, he heads
outside to explore with his dog Banta.

Abbey Rius
Originally from Washington, D.C., Abbey Rius currently teaches Global Studies and Language Arts. She also runs the Pass Packet
club. Abbey has an MA in Social Studies Education from New York University and a BA in History from Macalester College. When not
teaching, Abbey enjoys practicing her Spanish, traveling, cooking, and acting. She also performs with the Very Little Theater in Eugene.

Nick McNutt
Nick is the Science and Photography teacher at Creative Minds. He
received a Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology and minored in Chemistry
at Oregon State University. He also received a Masters in Education
from the University of Oregon. When outside of the classroom, Nick is an
avid photographer, an enthusiastic traveler, and all around outdoorsman.

Rachel Welling
Rachel is the Art teacher at Creative Minds. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Indiana University. She attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia and received her MFA in painting and installation. Rachel benefits from having a space where she draws, paints and explores new mediums. In her free time she likes to read, write and hike.

Tiffany King
Tiffany is the office administrator. She went to the University of Oregon to earn her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in
Folklore. Tiffany enjoys swimming, riding her motorcycle, hanging out with her cats, and creative use of language.

Micah Klatt
Micah has been the Special Education Coordinator and is now teaching Language Arts as well. He also keeps busy as the Senior Advisor and resident IT guy. He got his B.A. in Theatre Arts and Psychology at the University of Oregon. Later, he earned his M.S. in Special Education from Portland State University. Micah has also acted in numerous commercials, videos, and plays, as well as a few independent films. He enjoys exploring nature in his free time.
